Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take?
Training is an ongoing process which you will enjoy throughout your dogs life. All dogs, and humans for that matter, learn at different speeds and start life with different experiences; therefore there is no set time limit. However, everyone who attends the courses and practices at home will see a marked improvement in their dog and will have a much better understanding of how to achieve their aims and make progress.

Do I need special equipment?
Simply bring your dog on an ordinary collar or harness and lead . Please make regular checks of your collar/harness and lead to ensure they still fit correctly and to make sure they have not worn out.
The training is reward based so bring along your dogs favourite toy or treats they most desire and will work hard for to receive.

Is my dog too young or too old?
No is the simple answer.
Puppies can come to class as soon as they are through their vaccinations, please do not wait, the earlier you come the easier it is for you to train them.
If your dog is older, don't worry - it is never too late to start!

My dog is a crossbreed, can I still train it?
Of course you can!

What if I feel my dogs' particular problem cannot be dealt with in class?
If you are worried about any particular aspect of your dogs' behaviour please contact me as an individual training plan may suit your needs instead of a class setting.

What shall I wear?
You will find it more comfortable and safe to wear flat shoes or trainers. Ladies you will find it easier to wear a pair of trousers or jeans rather than a skirt.

What will I learn?
The classes give an opportunity to learn techniques on how to have a happy, well socialised and balanced dog witihin a safe and secure environment. The classes will include; dog etiquette, sit, down, leave, walk on a loose lead, come back when called, don't jump up and much more.....
The classes are designed to give an insight into dog behaviour and training which can be used in everyday life with your dog.
There will an opportunity to continue throughout the year on fun activities such as fun brain games and treiball etc.
